As followers of our blog know, we’re big fans of furry friends at Beside the Sea. After all, where would our team be without Dougal, our Border Terrier? We regularly post articles about dog friendly activities in East Sussex too so that you can get the most out of your holiday in Camber with your hound.
However, we just focus on our corner of Southeast England, which led us to wonder who else out there is blogging about doggies. There turns out to be a whole tribe of canine scribes, so many that choosing our favourite was something of a challenge. But we’ve managed it and this blog post lists our top five dog friendly bloggers.
Best site to check out dog friendly travel in the UK – PetsPyjamas
You obviously know where to stay with your dog in Camber, but what about elsewhere in the UK? This fun site lists pooch-friendly accommodation across the country, including spa breaks.
But we’ve chosen this site as one of our favourite dog friendly bloggers for its Pet Journal. This section comes packed with great reviews and recommendations plus tips and tricks for dogs’ health and wellbeing. There’s also a good smattering of fun posts such as How to Speak Dog and Me & My Pet interviews with celebrities and their dog.
Guess what? Andy Murray is one of the celebrity interviewees and he turns out to have two Border Terriers. We could totally relate to everything he said about them, especially he described them in three words: “energetic, loyal and cheeky”. Just like Dougal!

Best site for city-slicker canines – The Dog Vine
Teresa and her 2.5 dogs (two of her own and one that comes for an occasional walk) has compiled everything you could possibly want to know about life in London for dogs. They check out accommodation, pubs, restaurants and of course, list the best dog walks in the capital.
But we’ve chosen this blog as a personal favourite because we love the photos illustrating every post. They always feature one of the Teresa’s Brazilian rescue dogs, Belinha or Moleque. Both are so photogenic and Belinha in particular has great style when she poses.
Guess what? Teresa and her hounds have already visited beaches in West Sussex and blogged about them, but we couldn’t find anything about East Sussex. We’ve made a note to get in touch to recommend Camber because we know they’d love it!
Best doggie daily musings – Alfie’s Diary
We all need a dog diary in our lives and we just love Alfie’s. He’s a Entlebucher Mountain Dog who started his account back in 2006. That’s 98 years in dog lives, so Alfie has obviously since had to pass on the writing baton; Wilma, another Entlebucher, is the current diarist albeit as a ghostwriter.
Like Alfie before her, Wilma manages a post every single day, no mean feat in her obviously busy life. When she’s not catching up with daily events, Wilma also blogs on dog friendly accommodation (no mention of East Sussex here either…) and even runs a political party for dogs. Their manifesto must make great reading.
Guess what? We love Alfie’s motto, “Dog enough not to be human, human enough to be a pet”. We can see Dougal taking this one on.

Best dog friendly blogger for the great outdoors – WoofWagWalk
This glossy blog – the photos are exceptional – features two cocker spaniels, Maya and Lucia, mostly outdoors. They’re based up in Northumberland, so the site includes lots of information on dog friendly activities in that part of the world.
But other parts of the UK also get a look-in and there’s a great Tips and Advice section with lots of practical information about looking after and travelling with your dog. Like The Dog Vine, every post comes with a photo of one of the two dogs doing their thing.
Guess what? It doesn’t look like Maya and Lucia have been to East Sussex either, but Dougal is happy to forgive this oversight because he has fallen in love with Lucia’s TikTok feed.
Best all-round site for dog friendly bloggers – The Paw Post
This dog friendly blog works as a host for all those pet stories that don’t always get the exposure they deserve. Journalist Rachel Spencer features them on her site, which, as a result, is a real treasure trove of information, exclusively about dogs.
Her blog writes about almost anything from dog safety when travelling in the car to getting a DNA test for your pooch. We like how the posts are seasonal too and also how she doesn’t forget the owners. The ideas for Valentine’s Day, for example, are mostly gifts that you and Fido can share together.
Guess what? Rachel says she’s a self-confessed Crazy Dog Lady, but aren’t we all? And no, it appears she and Patch haven’t been to visit Camber Sands either.
Have we missed any?
Do you have a favourite dog friendly blogger we should know about? If you do, let us know in the Comments. Meanwhile, happy reading and we look forward to seeing you and your hound soon in Camber. Don’t forget to book your dog friendly accommodation!
