With the days getting warmer and the evenings staying lighter means that spring is in the air, all around 1066 Country the countryside is starting to come to life from the new born Romney lamb dotted around the fields to the fresh green leaves appearing on the naked trees in readiness to provide shade for the hot summer to follow. Spring is a great time to have an early holiday at White Sand, the beach is still quiet and the countryside is alive with early flowering flora and fauna making it a wonderful place to explore on bike or foot. Our cottages are surrounded glorious countryside and dramatic coastline, just waiting for you to explore. Any break here at White Sand should include a visit to the site of our most famous battle, The Battle of Hastings. As you walk the battle field you will see thousands of daffodils that we like to think of as floral memorials to the fallen heroes of that epic day that changed England forever.
Spring is also a great time to take up a new sport or hobby and with our varied landscapes, you are never far from a wide range of outdoor activities in breath-taking natural scenery. There are superb opportunities for golfers, horse-riders, anglers and watersports enthusiasts everywhere!

The great outdoors
Strap on your walking boots and head to Hastings Country Park, a picturesque nature reserve of national importance with stunning coastal views sited within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The nature reserve has over 850 acres of ancient gill woodland, heathland, grassland and farmland together with 5 kilometres of dramatic sandstone cliffs and coastline.
Rye Harbour is a fascinating Nature Reserve and worth a visit whether you want to discover its wildlife and habitats, explore its history, or simply experience the landscape and enjoy a walk beside the sea, whatever the season. The Nature Reserve lies within a large triangle of land extending south from Rye, along the River Rother, past Rye Harbour to the sea, westward to Winchelsea Beach and northwards along the River Brede.
